I am sorry. The Murses graduated mursing school and are now working. It just so happens that all of us got jobs on the same unit. We work in the Respiratory Intensive Care Unit in Murray Utah. We have been working for a year now. I really need to post about murses so that others can here how it is being a male nurse in what has historically been a female dominated carrier. This is not so true anymore. Our unit has 50/50 male to female nurses give or take one or two. It gives a good balance to the unit and we all have our strengths and weaknesses. If anyone out there reads this blog send me an email or comment. I have to admit that I was a little uneasy about choosing a career in nursing. My biggest concern was how people would react when I told them I was a nurse. I eventually came to my senses and realized that it did not matter what my peers thought. This is my 3rd semester in the nursing program, and I am loving it. Mursing is a fun and rewarding career, and I can't wait to get started. In our nursing program there are 3 men and 62 girls! We're tired of things being so female oriented! It is this attitude that contributes to the idea that nursing is a feminine career.<br />Nursing is awesome, and men can be just as successful as women at nursing. We encourage all people to fight against the discrimination of male nurses and to encourage men to consider nursing as a career. Sexual orientation has nothing to do with any of it! As a male nursing student my two other fellow Murses and I decided that we were tired of all the classes and lectures being directed towards the female population that so greatly dominates the nursing world. We have our own practices and ways of doing things that can bring innovation and new blood into nursing practice.
